G.K. Chesterton, a writer, says, “I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the very best advice, and then going away and doing the exact opposite”. It means, sometimes one must buck the conventional wisdom. The hard part is knowing whether you’re acting out of conviction for your ideals or if you’re just being deluded by ego. There isn’t one formula to motivate oneself towards successful living, its an individual based thinking and conduct of life that can help one grow.
“Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act.”
1. Struggles are your strength
The life that comes easy is worth nothing. To live a great life, one must go through pain, sacrifices, and struggles. It may sound difficult but, deciding to embrace the pain will make you stronger. By fighting when everyone else would long give up, you not only strengthen your mental muscles but also separate yourself from the crowd that doesn't want it as bad as you do.
2. Rewind your accomplishments
Think about all the things you have accomplished so far. No matter who you are and what you have done, you would have some accomplishments to look back on. Regardless of whether your win is big or small, learn to celebrate them all. It is important to constantly remind yourself of your accomplishments and celebrate all as it helps to change the negative state of mind and boosts good vibes.
3. The ‘Why’ factor
Whatever you are doing, ask yourself ‘why’. Find a deeper reason to keep going even if you feel like giving up. You may have different “why´s” for different goals or the same reason for all of them. The only thing that matters is that you know why you are doing what you are doing and never give up until you succeed.
4. Focus on your plus points
Think about what you do best and just do it. Worrying and focusing on the problem is not going to help. So, to get out of the trap, focusing on what you do best is a must. Consistently focusing on developing the best, and never really worrying so much about handling objections and complaints, is a must and should rule.
5. Picture perfect
A quote by APJ Abdul Kalam, “Dream, Dream Dream, Dreams transform into thoughts, And thoughts result in action”. Rather than thinking about the task you want to do and am not doing, just leap over it and focus on how great you will feel when it’s done.
